ORIGINS OF THE WATER METHOD & LIU HONG JIE

This is Part Two of the Water Method series with Paul Cavel and Mir Ali.

Part Three: A Gift From Ancient Daoists — coming soon! Start with Part One:    • What Defines Water Method Training

Much of the documentation on Daoism has been destroyed, but the oral tradition has been preserved with the teachings being transmitted from master to student for millennia, to us in the present day.

In this video, Mir and I discuss the ancient texts of the Daoist Water Method, including the Yijing and Daodejing, that help seekers to understand change in a cosmic and material world, how to find your path and flow with universal law.

We also discuss the physical application of the Yijing, bagua (monastic bagua, spiritual bagua) which pre-dates bagua zhang, the martial tradition proliferated by Dong Hai Chuan, as well as tai chi — by thousands of years.

We give our gratitude to Bruce Frantzis, who brought the lineage teachings of the Water Method to the West. We cover his training and our lineage lines in detail for bagua and tai chi for the sake of transparency, made possible by our teacher Bruce and his teacher, the Sage Liu Hong Jie (also Liu Hung Chieh), who reunited previously splintered teachings from Old Daoism, having a history of 4,000 years.

We hope you find this information useful. Please join Mir and me in sending gratitude to Liu, Bruce and all the lineage holders before them who made numerous, untold personal sacrifices for the benefit of future generations, for us today, to maintain the integrity of the pure and everlasting teachings of the Daoist oral tradition.
