BAGUA SINGLE & DOUBLE PALM CHANGES
30 APRIL-1 MAY 2025
FINSBURY PARK, LONDON
New & Existing Students Welcome
Overview
In this two-day seminar purely on bagua, I will teach the Single and Double Palm Changes, which form the basis of our whole bagua system — the yang and the yin of bagua training.
New students are welcome and will learn mud stepping and the Single Palm Change. Real bagua is all about depth rather than breadth, so I recommend you stick with this palm. The Double Palm Change includes much more complex formwork and is considerably more demanding — physically and energetically — than the Single Palm. That said, if you are keen to learn the Double Palm Change, you may do so.
Existing students will review and upgrade their Single Palm Change before moving on to learning or refining the Double Palm Change.
The previous four-day retreat on Gods Playing in the Clouds Neigong is an excellent preparation for bagua — especially the Double Palm, as it opens up the pelvis and takes you deep into the internals that power bagua training. Gods Qigong is the hand that fits perfectly inside of the bagua glove. Both are original arts of the Water Method (along with breathing and meditation methods).
Single Palm Change
The Single Palm Change is both the first palm change and holds the potential to contain the entirety of the bagua system (known as monastic or Pre-birth bagua). The Single Palm requires copious practice over time to train well, but develops incredible strength and vitality for your effort. Bagua is well-known for its ability to hone the intent and expand awareness of both your internal and external environments.
Double Palm Change
The Double Palm Change is the second of the Eight Mother Palms (i.e. bagua zhang or Post-birth Bagua). The Double Palm develops amorphous energy — the ability to change and mould with the flow in an instant — which is manifested in the body once its large movements have worked their magic, opening up the body and generating more internal space. The Double Palm will help you to become more fluid and softer with your movements, while developing incredible strength to flow with unpredictable changes of direction.
Together the Single and Double Palms allow a practitioner to contact, merge with and lose their resistance to change — an invaluable skill for people of all Ages.

In-person courses are not recorded or live streamed as instruction is adjusted to meet the needs of those present, including hands-on corrections not relevant to the greater student base.
